Transfer of chemicals from feed to food

Some chemicals in animal feed can pose hazards for the quality of food. In these cases food of animal origin needs to be rejected. This can happen when chemicals in feed demonstrate carry-over, where chemicals ingested through the feed will be transferred into meat, milk or eggs. Mathematical models can be used to predict the concentration of chemicals in food of animal origin, if concentrations in animal feed and the exposure time of the animals are known.
